Tell Me About Yourself Award

Congratulations Marja on receiving that award, and thank you (I think) for passing it on to me!!
It was quite a shock to think about seven things about myself and since you know me so well you will know that I found it very hard not to list seven negatives.
I have been told that I make the average hermit look like a raging extrovert, but then I have had 82 years to practise!!

Well here goes.

1.I am an introvert and a practising hermit
2.I love to just sit and imagine God and how He and Jesus would interact with each other.
3.I can’t wait to get to Heaven.
4.I love every individual in my large and ever growing family and pray for them all to give their lives to the Lord.
5.I eat too much and am a chocoholic from way, way back.
6.I admit to being old but not yet mature. Will it ever happen? Don’t know!
7.I am still too impulsive. I jump off a cliff then look round to see if God is with me.

My five choices are:-

2 Encourage (Pam)
****************Maz's Carer...
For Ever His Servant
Woman Of The North
Red Scarf Diaries

To these lovely people, some old friends and some new ones, I am advised by Marja that the rules are:-

1. Thank the person who gave you the award
2. Reveal seven things about yourself.
3. Pass the award on to five other bloggers. Leave a comment on each blog telling them you have nominated them.

If you are one of the 5 blogs I nominated and would like to pass it on, copy the blog award to a post, reveal 7 things about yourself, and pass this award on to 5 other bloggers of your choice. Enjoy!

The Days Are Short

The days are short although the nights grow longer
The will to learn and to forget the past
The wisdom to behold Your plan and purpose
Is now my goal; our minds as one at last.

I will walk on; not turning, or regretting
I will walk on though trials may still remain
No stopping now; the world will keep on turning
Whatever comes, my Lord, You stay the same.

A diadem can glisten in my tear drops
I see a cross beside a lonely grave
It’s not the end of life, and love, and friendship
Just a brief parting; faith can still be brave.

The music pours through Heaven’s open portals
The sounds of praise now fill the halcyon air
We are reborn, renewed, and now immortal
Our mortal love now pure; no sorrow there.

Perception.

Perception is an awkward word for it always seems to me
That everyone’s perception is so difficult to see.
If I say, “Describe and elephant” or something there might be
Standing right before you, what you and I both see
May sound completely different and if we should close our eyes
To see what you’re describing it may be a surprise.
You may see white while I see black and another may say it’s grey
You may see fun in something that I don’t see that way.

I bought some carpet recently and the salesman said to me
It’s three hundred dollars extra to move the furniture you see
Now I just fumed, then panicked for my furniture was worth
Just about half three hundred; a quarter of the carpet’s worth.
When I said, “Forget the carpet, I don’t agree to that”
The salesman had another ace just underneath his cap
He quickly fudged the figures and the carpet’s price went up
The price for moving furniture then two hundred dollars off.

The total cost was just the same but my perception changed
The carpet sale continued, but I think I am deranged
For I had been persuaded to see things a different way
Yet I had not saved a penny! I should be put away!
Yes, perception is an awkward word and I am here to say
That everyone’s perceptions will differ in every way
I much prefer statistics for facts can never lie
My carpet cost remained the same and that perception’s mine.

Put The Kettle On.

However hard the day may be, however bad the news
If Mum said, “Put the kettle on” we, lost our fear and blues
When we returned late from our school, wet and cold from a long walk
Then Mum would put the kettle on as we warmed and had a talk.

It wasn’t that our Mum was rich or had nothing much to do
But she knew the power in a cup of tea and what is good for you
I don’t know that the tea had power except antioxidants
But there was comfort in her words and it seemed to make good sense.

Those words held far more comfort than, “Rinse the cups out in the sink”
Or “Turn on the tap and get yourself some cold water to drink”.
Through all our years of growing up we understand ‘Mother power’
That if all else fails put the kettle on it; it will be your finest hour.

A Good Hair Day?

Are you having a good hair day today?
Have you let your hair down before the Lord?
Have you wept over your sin then confessed and let Him in?
Are you having a good hair day before the Lord?

Did you bring your greatest treasures to the Lord?
Did you lay at His feet what you love too well?
Did you wash His feet with tears and dry them with your hair?
Are you having a good hair day as well?

When we think what Christ did for us on the Cross
There is only one thing we can do for Him
Break the alabaster box with the treasures of greatest cost
And lay them at His feet. Do it for Him.

Do You Wonder What The Day May Bring?

Do you wake up in the morning and wonder what the day may bring?
Do you tend to dread or fear the unknown?
Well, you have a Heavenly Father who’s already planned your day
Then just thank Him, and place your hand inside His own.

It is an adventure to walk daily with the Lord
He is there beside You now and every day
Don’t look forward into shadow; look right up into His eyes
His love and mercy hold the key to life this way.

We don’t know what the future holds but we know it holds our Lord
He has plans to fill our life with hope and joy
Any trials any tests will make your testimony the best
As an ambassador for Christ whom we adore.

So take courage, dear pilgrim, for the war’s already won
And the battle is the Lord’s, His Word has said
Keep your armour at the ready and never turn your back
When you step forward it is you that Satan dreads.

Make A Note.

Make a note to tell someone you love them
Make a note to smile at passers by
Make a note to thank God for Creation
Make a note to praise the One Who died.

Make a note to thank someone for listening
It may be the kindest gesture that they gave
Make a note to do someone else a kindness
It will absolutely make their day.

Make a note to thank the Lord for friends and family
They are for your support and sent by Him
Just remember that good things are only borrowed
They’re on loan from God and made by Him.

You Are My Rock

You are my Rock; You are my hiding place
You hold me close; I’m safe in Your embrace
No fears can hold their sway within my mind
For You are my sight, without You I am blind.

You lead the way through dark unfriendly shadow
Your Word the Light as I walk the pathway now
The goal far more important than the journey
To live with You is goal enough for me.

You lift my head when troubles drag me downward
You shine on me such love ;You are adored
While from my heart a whispered prayer’s received
The answer comes already, and I find peace.

Reassuring Love.

Reassuring love; Reassuring love
That’s my Father’s gift to me, His reassuring love.
No matter what my trials may be or if I stumble on the way
He will bend down to lift me up that always is His way.

His mercy ever part of His correction of my fall
Each lesson that He teaches has His love draped over all
And as each new day follows with the chance to start again
I feel such a deep sorrow that I ever caused Him pain.

He always reassures me with His reassuring love
I’m so blessed to have a Father Who guides me from above
His Holy Spirit with me too as He whispers to my heart
"Keep going, little pilgrim, I’m still here although it’s dark."

A Strange New Land.

There's a strange new land across the highlands
It's surrounded by a wide and mighty sea
No boats are ever seen to cross it
And the trees never, never, turn green.

You may hear the frogs beside the water
Or splashing in the mud around the creeks
The strangest thing I've seen is that the frogs are not green
Did their colour slip away in their sleep?

Once that land was invaded by giant tractors
And men who drove around in great big trucks
They drilled and dug and messed around with earth works
Till the earth worked out that it was done for bucks.

Well, the men in yellow hats and some with white ones
Declared that progress was coming to that land
The creatures still alive crept away and tried to hide
But their food was gone in a black and slimy land.

So now it's called 'the land of no tomorrows'
Yet God gave the earth into our care
Do we tell our children stories of a dreamtime
When we had a lush green earth for all to share?

We are surely the caretakers of Creation
God gave a commission to us all
To take care of the land and its people
We must count the cost of destroying it all.

The Trumpet Call .

When the trumpet call has sounded and the Lord has now returned
When the clock of time no longer has a face
Will you stand before the judgement seat a washed and holy soul?
Or will guilt and sorrow show upon your face?

Is there someone unforgiven who has sought to do you harm?
Did you mean to tell the Lord but then forgot?
Are your sins and pain still clinging to your frail and fading form?
Then cry “Lord forgive them; cleanse my every spot.”

So friend, keep your lamp still burning for no-one knows the day
When the Saviour will return to claim his own
Then forgive, and be forgiven and you’ll keep the pathway clear
Instead of Judgement lay your crowns at Heaven’s throne.

You Hear My Heart.

You hear my heart when words won’t come to me, Lord
You hear my heart when tears don’t cease to flow
You hear my heart when memories are painful
Lord, take my heart, You know I love You so.

They fly to Heaven, these silent prayers of mine, Lord
Though just a breath released from laboured thought
As incense caught by golden bowls You are holding
Then my humbled heart flies upwards as it ought.

Your heart is mine, since Calvary had pierced it
Your heart is mine and so I worship You
My heart is Yours since ever You had willed it
You are my Lord; I love to worship You.

Do You Think Of Me Sometimes?

While the world is turning do you think of me sometimes
And remember that we were friends, once, long ago?
Do you see me as I used to be, though you have gotten old?
While I wait here for Heaven; not long to go?

The nurses move round quietly, trying not to laugh too much
They seem to think that joy should not be shown
While I am in God’s waiting room and thankful for the touch
Of a friendly hand that says “You’re not alone.”

The sun shines in through the window later on into the day
No warmth can pierce my air-conditioned room
The light shows up the particles that float around the air
When they lift the covers on my little tomb.

No, dear, I am not lonely, for they’re doing hourly ‘ops’
You see my glory time is almost here.
They are all kind and gentle folk that won’t let me die alone
They intend that someone should be always near.

While I’m waiting for an Angel to come stand beside my bed
And tell me that the Lord has called me Home
I’ve had time to think of someone whom I loved so long ago
And I hope you thought of me, and you’re not alone.

Lord Give Me Your Vision.

Lord, give me Your vision for every lost soul
Give me Your love to with mercy console
Those who are grieving for loved ones gone astray
Give me patience to seek and endurance to pray.

Help me to wait when things don’t seem to change
Give me Your Patience when no answer’s in range
Yours is the timing and Yours is the power
Saving our loved ones while we’re faithful hour by hour

Lord, give me wisdom to do what is right
When making decisions light my path with Your light
May I walk in obedience; not be a stumbling block
May Your kingdom come, my Lord, and my Rock.
