If I could, I’d paint the scenes folk could step into
I’d write words of beauty to show Your majesty
Tell stories of the Boy Who grew to manhood
Just to die for all of us at Calvary.
I want to show the world a God Who loves them
I need the words to tell how much You care
I want to see so many souls grow hungry
For a God Who always loves and cares.
I’d show a God Who holds the stars and planets
But Who will stoop to lift a helpless babe
A God Who puts His arms around the dying
And Who rolled away the stone from His Son’s grave.
My heart is full of wordless emotions
I cannot find the words to tell you how I feel
If I lived to be more than a hundred
I would still want to say ‘My God is Real’!

What Can I Do For You Lord?
What can I do for You Lord?
I’m asking for nothing today
I wake every day and I greet You
With all my requests for the day.
I pray please bless this one, and that one
Take care of my family and friends
Would You please stop the rain; or send it again
My list of requests never ends.
So from now I will change things around, Lord
First thing I will ask about You
Then give You a list of my Thank You’s
Instead of a list You could do.
First thing every morning You’re with me
And I know that You never left
You are loving me right into Glory
Am I there yet? It’s my last request.

End Of An Era.

It’s the end of an era and I’m tidying up my life
Closing down my websites and withdrawing from that life
I became too dependant and attached to certain things
Hanging out for messages at dawn (that sort of thing).
Yes, I had special times with God at the start of every day
Then I would go to look for mail to help me to pray
Hearing of the needs of those who took the time to write
Yearning to be with them and make everything alright.
I live like a hermit and don’t like to leave my home
Yet wish I could go miles away and ceaselessly roam
I have no commitments except to take my pills
I don’t know if they do me good; they’re no cure for my life’s ills.
I don’t feel needed or wanted yet I know that is not true
Just wait until you are old; it will happen to you
My body’s giving up on me, my brain will follow suit
If only God would take me Home you’d not hear me dispute.
So I’m sorting and packing the things that matter most
Moving to God’s waiting room, yet watching for the post
Maybe there will be some mail that changes my day
There’s nothing in my emails to cheer me anyway.

Lord Help Me Stand Alone.
Lord help me stand alone
I need no-one but You
I look round on an empty plain
And don’t know what to do.
Lord help me stand alone
Awaiting still Your will
Not sure what path will take me Home
Which would be good or ill?
Lord help me stand alone
Not need another’s hand
But just with You and just us two
We’ll walk on hand in hand.
Lord I don’t stand alone
That never has been so
For You are with me all the time
And know just where to go.
Now I can look around
At this once empty plain
And see Your blessings so abound
In sunshine or in rain.

In The Name Of The Father.
In the name of the Father I come to You, Lord
You opened the way up for me
On the cross at Calvary that black Easter day
You died there to set me free.
Now Heaven’s doors opened and I can come in
To be with You for ever and a day
What joy just to worship my Lord and my God
Jesus is the Truth and the Way.
And not just this only, my heart fills with joy
That I’ll meet all my loved ones again
With folk that I’ve heard of but have never seen
Yet I will know them and praise You with them.
In the name of the Father; in the name of the Son
And the Holy Ghost three in one
Almighty, victorious, yet gracious and kind
I await Your call now to come.

I Long To See You

Oh, how I long to see You,
Every single day
To know that somewhere, somehow,
You will pass along my way.
To know that I will never see
The look of grief and pain
That now I feel aware of
When I have slipped again.
It doesn’t seem important
If I’ve a mansion or a shack
As long as I am near You and
Can touch you and be touched back.
For all my life You’ve loved me
And cared and grieved for me
When I’ve been cold or selfish
Your tears I’d never see.
For when I’m up in Heaven,
Immortal, fully pure
I’ll never grieve You, Jesus,
Just worship and adore.

Would You Think I Was Weird?
Would you think that I was weird if I said I want to write?
But I don’t know what to write about today?
It’s been a funny sort of day with several salesmen on the phone
Wanting me to sign their contracts right away.
Have you ever had the wobbles when it came to putting down
Your name, address and details for some unknown
You try to remember what you said when on the phone
And hope they don’t intend to repossess your home?
First came car Insurance, well, I know that it is due
So I googled for quotes as I was told
But then when I completed the lengthy questionnaires
Some said No, they thought I was too old.
Well, that was alright for some did not object
To a woman only eighty three this year
But when they asked me what I’d done a few years back in time
I could only say what I had done this year.
It’s hard enough to remember what I have had for lunch
Or what I may have done the day before
But to ask me if and when my car’s had a little scratch
It’s had seven years of scratches, maybe more!
Well, as you may expect car insurance has been shelved
I’ll have to ponder that quite a lot more
So now the energy supplier has telephoned to say
That they’ve been sold by the Government; but wait, there’s more.
Now, though a bit of them is Asian and a bit is still Australian
They will still sell electricity from their grids
A contract is awaiting but, please, no hesitating
Their competition is on their heels with better bids.
Now I don’t want to mention a new phone was my intention
But the word ‘Contract’ was the first thing that I heard
When the phone company rang to read out their conditions
Now cars and phones and lights get on my nerves.

I’m Not A Social Butterfly.
I am not a social butterfly; I wish that I could be
But really, I am a recluse and hiding pleases me
I write, and read, and sleep a lot, morning, noon and night
The thought of meeting someone will give me quite a fright.
I only do the shopping if I run out of milk and
Make trips to the doctor, and that sort of ilk
I will work in the garden and no-one sees me
But when the neighbours are too noisy I run inside with me.
I sit at the computer most of the day
And I’m sad when messages don’t come my way.
But they are mostly offers; buy this; join this; donate
So then I turn to writing for that other stuff I hate.
You see they want a part of me and what I have to spend
And when you’re on a Pension your funds will quickly end
I suspect those that want my cash can run a nice new car
Or dine in a restaurant I see from afar.
Do you think I’m growing bitter from life experience?
I’d give you my last penny, if you wouldn’t take offence
In my heart I am a giver and if you had a need
I would solve it somehow and answer with speed.
A Recluse.

Are You Lonely?
When the days are empty and friends forget to write
Do you then feel lonely and resent the pain that bites
Into your senses and deep into your heart
You wish you didn’t need those folk to fill your empty heart?
Well you don’t need anyone; only the One
Who is your loving Saviour and God’s only Son
He left you his Spirit to fill that empty heart
He said He’d never leave you, so friend, take heart.
When you’re walking with the Lord you are not alone
His Spirit sends up messages right to the Heavenly Throne
You belong to the Father, you’re redeemed by the Son
Guided by the Spirit so you have the Three in One.
Blessed by the Trinity; washed in the blood
Jesus our Saviour did all that was good
So share out that great love the Father gave to you
Many lonely folk around you need that too.

A Moonlit Night.

In the quiet of a moonlit night I watch the clouds roll by
The world is sheltered under a velvet hood
The colours of the flowers change when day is turned to night
And I understand why God said, “It is good.”
Oh the beauty of Creation; Oh the wonder of God’s touch
The millions of strange creatures that He made
But most of all the wonder of the Saviour’s special love
When for the people of the earth His Life He gave.
Then we shall praise Him for His sacrifice we’ll thank Him for this world
And for all the wondrous gifts He does bestow
For His constant loving Presence wherever we may roam
Oh Creator, Father, God, we love You so.
So at the end of a moonlit night I see a dawning day
We know that the sun will soon arise
The Son of God the Father will return again one day
We will see Him appear up in the skies.
AND THERE WILL BE NO MORE NIGHT.

Could It Be?

Could it be that my sins have been forgiven?
Could it be that now I’m Heaven bound?
Could it really happen that You love me
So much that You gave up the Holy ground?
You gave up all of Your glory
When You left Your Father’s Home above
You lived and died on earth to save us
You won Salvation by the shedding of Your blood.
You took our sin into Your own body
You served the punishment that we all deserved
Your Father turned away He could not look at You
Your Mother wept for Your death was not deserved.
And now it’s Easter we remember Calvary
We look again at the cross on which You died
We kneel at Your feet to give You glory
Our Lord and our God was crucified.
He is risen! He is risen! That’s the cry now
Our Lord reigns on His throne from above
He will return soon in His glory
To call the ones He bought with His blood.
Could it be that you are not ready?
Could it be that your sins aren’t washed away?
Could it be too late to come to Jesus?
Not if you were to make a move today.
Please make a move today.

Just Thinking.

Just sitting, and thinking, then thinking again
About something or nothing at all.
Watching the birds as they fly round about
Then I’m looking at plants tall and small.
Watching the clouds as they drift on by
Wonder if they’ll ever be still?
Or, if they stood still would they tumble as rain
Or vanish just over some hill?
When You created the earth did You sit
And ponder how good it all looked
Or were You in sorrow because You knew then
What a mess we would make of that look.
When You come back to earth to take us all home
Will the earth be restored once again?
Or will it just lay there a smouldering wreck
To remind us that we hurt You again?
I’d be proud if You would send me to earth
To help restore it one day;
To plant out the garden that once was Your joy
Where You walked in the cool of the day.
And if You should call me, if You walk there again
I never, no never, would hide
I’d come out so gladly to hear Your dear Voice
Running till I reached Your side.

Regret Is A Cancer.
Can You use me, precious Lord?
Can Your Spirit flow
Right through me as a vessel, Lord
To everyone I know?
Does my life reflect Your love?
In patient, gentle care?
Or do I cause someone to turn
Away, because I’m there?
It’s not enough to do no harm
I yearn to do some good
Do I grieve Your Holy Spirit when
I don’t do the good I should?
I want to be Your servant, Lord
Both a servant and a friend
A vessel clean and always pure
Until my life shall end.
Regret is such a cancer Lord
That eats away at me
I cannot change the wrongs I’ve done
Though You’ve forgiven me.
My past Your Grace has blotted out
My future held by You
I’ll step into Your sunlight
That’s all that I can do.
And in Your sweet enduring love
My heart will rest assured
That You will guide my every step
As long as life endures.

Transfusion.
I had a joy transfusion
Today, while I was out
I was sitting at the doctor’s
But I didn’t sing or shout.
I felt the warmth of love and joy
Trickle through my veins
It ran right round behind my eyes
I sat there in a haze.
I felt Your soft warm hug Lord
As I waited quietly
In awe of my precious Saviour
Who is so good to me.
It’s wonderful to know You’re near
Around and yet inside me
And know that I am not alone
Wherever I might be.
Sometimes You are very quiet
And so, then I should be
For I might miss Your whisper
When You bend down to me.
A transfusion at the doctors?
Well that’s not really strange
For Jesus meets us anywhere
We’re never out of range.

We Have Plundered Creation.
I stand here amazed at the beauty
Of all the things that I see
The mountains, the sea, and the valleys
All spread around before me.
The birds and all other creations
Were put here for us to enjoy
But we didn’t take care of these blessings
We plundered and began to destroy.
So what is the result of this plunder?
What punishment do we deserve?
We punish ourselves, for all nature
Can no longer our lives preserve.
What have we left for our children?
What will their future be?
Can we snatch any life from the jaws of death
To reverse the damage we see?
We are caretakers of God’s Creation
Our shame is obvious now
But it’s never too late to wipe clean the slate
Or at least show our children how.
What can one person do? I hear you ask
How about one plus one?
If we all do our bit it will make a lot
A big task, but let’s get it done.

Cry Of The Matriarch
I wonder why gloom sits around in my room
Why sun just casts shadows so it feels like a tomb
Why the noises outside remind me I am alone
In a house that once heard voices in a family home.
When children fly away to start busy new lives
The Matriarch is left and her usefulness dives
Her age is increasing; her confidence crushed
No one to talk to who isn’t too rushed.
So then begins the old cry’ Am I there yet?’
Lord why don’t you call me, I’m tired of the wait
Not another day, I been down here too long
It’s time to enter Heaven and I’ll sing a different song.’
'Lord my room is too small, I can’t pack the family in
They all want to see me; I don’t know where to begin
I’m glad I’m in Heaven, but I need some more space
My family is growing at such a fast pace.!'

From This Day On.
From this day on, my heart will love You, Father
Now on this day Oh God forgive my sin
I hold my arms out to receive Your love, Lord
And welcome cleansing from the dross within.
When I ignored the promises You made to me
And doubted in my heart they could come true
For me, who was Your undeserving child, Lord
I spurned Your love and all that You might do.
So now I claim Your faithful Word and promises
Forgive me, Lord, I will renew my path
Each step I take will lead me nearer Glory
Just to return Your Love is all I ask.
Dear Holy Spirit I am so sorry I hurt You
Denied Your power and that‘s the sin of pride
Brushed off Your love, a love that took You to the cross
O hold me, shield me, in Your heart I’ll hide.

Do This In Remembrance Of Me.

Take of the bread and the wine at Communion
Give me your heart as you’re thinking of Me
Think of My sacrifice; and future reunion
Will you do this in remembrance of Me?
Will you remember? Will you remember?
The day that I died just to free you from sin
I returned to My Father and My home in Glory
But I am waiting for you to come in.
Kneel now before Me; I know you adore Me
Confess your sin, for I’m ready to cleanse
Communion is broken without your confession
Will you do this in remembrance, My friend?
We two are one now; the world is before you
Spread the good news that a Saviour is here
Souls are repining where love is declining
Will you remind them Salvation is near?
It is you that I care for; you whom I died for
I will not leave you, that is My decree
Pray to Me, stay near to Me, till you reach glory
Will you do this in remembrance of Me?

Not Just A Number.

If I say the words, ‘Four Thousand’ what would it mean to you?
A figure that went down in history
But four thousand is the number of living souls that died
And those were everyone a Cherokee.
Driven out by white men from their peaceful mountain homes
When the Government had heard that there was gold
And all of that was started by a little Cherokee boy
Who sold a nugget to a trader wanting gold.
The word spread and the Government soon joined with greedy men
To drive the Cherokee from their homes
And day by day and night by night the wagons rolled along
While sick and murdered Indians fell, in droves.
The trail of tears is so well named for the tears were shed by all;
Mothers, Fathers, children as they fell
The long, long trail took several months and scattered Cherokee graves
Left four thousand souls on a foreign hill.
This history has been written by good and faithful men
Read round the world wherever people roam
My heart will well remember the bleeding trailing scar
Of those shallow graves scattered far from home.
So when you hear the words ‘Four thousand’ no matter where you are
Remember that Legislation was the key
That signed the papers, that sent the army, that gathered greedy men
That ended the life of four thousand Cherokee.

I Was Walking One Day

I was walking one day down the road in the rain
And I heard a soft whisper again, and again
‘My child do you love me as I love you
I gave you My life, will you do the same too?’
The rain still fell softly and mixed with my tears
Like the ones I had shed right down through the years
I had struggled and strived to do things by myself
But all I attained was a place on a shelf.
I had heard that same whisper right down through the years
My Lord, ever seeking, but I kept all my fears
I feared to step forward and take hold of His hand
Yet Jesus never left me for my life He had planned.
Once again came the whisper, ‘Child do you love me?’
‘Remember it was for you that I hung on that tree’?
My tears now stinging and mixed with the rain
As I whispered back ‘I’m all Yours, once again.’
My Saviour is still with me for He never left
Every promise He made is a promise He kept
I love Him more, every day that I live
And that is a promise I know I can give.

Cause of Death?
Cause of death unknown, I read
Funeral to be held in bed
No need for fancy coffin here
Just say your peace the Minister’s near.
“She had a very happy life
She was a good and busy wife
Her children raised and educated
She said she would like to be cremated”.
To save expense was her idea
To cremate her body right in here
The fire we start will have to burn
So hot she cannot then return
The fire brigade must not be called
Until the fire has taken hold
Her earthly goods must be destroyed
If we fight over them she’ll be annoyed.
I don’t know what will happen next
Her funeral service she has text
A little sermon she added too
I really knew that’s what she’d do.
She always wanted the last word
But since it’s in text nobody heard
I know she's happy and carefree now
A campervan in Heaven? They’d never allow!

What?
What am I listening for, why am I searching?
Looking for distraction without any purpose
I don’t want to think or make up a goal
Yet here is no meaning to my life as a whole.
I don’t want to stay here, I don’t want to go
I can’t imagine why I feel this thing so
Is it a grief or depression I am in?
From my understanding I am living in sin.
I should not feel hurt when I’m snubbed or I’m shunned
Perhaps in a Convent I might make a good Nun
My skin is too thin and my brain is too thick
What is my future when I’m as thick as a brick?
Tired of repeated..’You should’…and..’You should’
Well I just don’t want to even if I could
I’m tired of people saying ‘Your negative talk
Will bring into being bad things in your walk.
So I wish I could crawl right under a rock
While you folk analyse me and talk a lot of rot
I know all my bad points outweigh all the good
But that means I am human and ‘you should…’you should’….

No, Don't Walk Away
No, don’t walk away
Do you see Me standing here?
Waiting to hold you close
And calm every fear.
No, don’t walk away
I never would leave you
Each step that you take.
I would be there too.
No, don’t walk away
Don’t you want me to help you?
You cannot hide from Me
I can always see you.
So please turn around
A wrong path you are taking
I don’t want you to fall, so
Come! I am still waiting.

Spiders?
If for sixty years you do all for love
And that great love should go
With what then do I fill my life?
What should I do; where go?
Well-meaning folk line up to say
‘You should’ ‘you should…’’ You should…’
I won’t become an old man’s slave
Though I could…I could…I could…
I want to be downright selfish
And do things just for me
I enjoy my own company
Though it’s lonely, I agree.
So I’ll just sit here and ponder
In the kitchen of my home
And realise with gratitude
I do not need to roam.
I could sit here with my duster
And keep the cobwebs at bay
As the spiders have moved in you see
When they thought I’d gone away.
So now it’s either them or me
Who can enjoy this home
So I’ll make their lives a misery
And hope that they will roam.
While I sit here with my free time
And duster unfurled
I’ll get those rotten spiders for
Invading my world.

A boy looks into the life of a youthful Jesus.

I can sit up in bed and talk with You
I can stay up all night if You want me to
It’s so quiet now we won’t be disturbed
And we can both whisper so as not to be heard.
Will You tell me about life when You were a boy
Were You always good? Did You have any toys?
I wonder if You ever played in the dirt?
Or if Your Mother was worried that You might get hurt.
I wish I had seen You as a baby , Lord
And as a boy Who sometimes got bored
Did You cut yourself with Joseph’s tools
When You were learning the carpenter’s rules?
You were the eldest with younger kin
Were You in charge when Your parents weren’t in?
Did Your young brothers squabble and fight?
Did You have sisters and have to kiss them goodnight?
Were all Your lessons taken at school
Within the Temple where the scribes had to rule?
I have so many questions that I want to ask
Was Your life like mine with many small tasks?
When will I know and when will I hear
All about You that I hold so dear?
I don’t want to wait till I get up to heaven
Please tell me now, the clock says it’s seven!

If I Didn’t Know.

If I didn’t know You loved me
If I didn’t know You cared
I would sit out on the porch here
And wish I were a bird.
I know Your eye is on the Sparrow
They are small and homely things
You care for all creation
And not just those with wings.
But I wish I were a bird Lord
To take off to the sky
I’d fly up nearer heaven
So You could keep an eye
On everything I’m doing
And help me in good time
When things are going well, Lord
Or I’m neck deep in some slime.
For I get into trouble
Much more than little birds
I’d like Your urgent rescue
Before I’m even hurt.
You hear my desperate whisper
“O God, please help me now”
And You will send the answer
And it’s just in time somehow.
For You are kind and patient
And I’m not perfect yet
But I will still keep trying
From morn till sun is set.

Another Love Letter To The Master.
I Want To Know You
I want to know You, and see Your face
I have known Your love, Lord throughout this long race
I know You are faithful, kind and true
How can I ever stop loving You.
I want to know You, as I look in Your eyes
You always are caring, yet You love to surprise
Some days are long Lord, and healing won’t come
But don’t change Your plans, Lord, I want this race run.
Not my will, Father, but only thine
My asking for changes is wasting our time
Work to be done and lost souls to win
Telling them You died, Lord, to free them from sin.
All You have done Lord, at Calvary
You thought it was worth it to save even me
I just want to know You and to stay by Your side
Bonded in love with nothing to hide.
I hid from You, Lord for many a day
But others prayed I’d surrender some way
Now I am Yours You know I won’t hide
Walking together in love and great pride.

Why Don’t I Mind My Own Business?

Why don’t I mind my own business?
I keep overstepping the mark
There is such a fine line between caring
And touching that ‘Privacy’ mark
I just want to end people’s troubles
And make their life better, you see
But I hit a brick wall or cold shoulder
Or the ‘Privacy’ wall just hits me.
I’ve always been a fighter for justice
And would take on a war (two or three)
No matter the odds, shake the peas out of pods
If I’m raging don’t try to stop me.
I have all the best of intentions
And I have too much love to spare
Those I want to protect or fight for
They really don’t even care.
So I’ll keep to my side of the fence line
And a little aloof from now on
Unless I am asked to perform a task
I’ll mind my own business from now on.

I’ll Seek Your Face.

Seeking Your Face, Lord, I’m seeking Your face
Tired of falling down in this race
I look around at all my mistakes
Grateful for mercy that Your love will erase
You lift me up Lord, into Your arms
Cleanse me and keep me safe from all harm
The road is narrow, but my faith will be strong
As long as I seek you, the road won’t be long.
Just day by day, Lord, I’ll seek Your Face
You are my Master, and You’ve been in my place
All of my trials have been felt by You
As You have walked down the same pathway too.
Never alone, Lord, I’m never alone
Your Spirit abides in me as Your home
If I am a temple fit for my King
I need to be pure, Lord, as Your praises I sing.
I’ll seek Your Face, Lord there’ll be never a day
When I don’t kneel at Your footstool to pray
Always abiding close to Your side
When You are guiding, no tears to hide.

Mother.

Can I catch my wandering thoughts
As I gaze into the sky
Looking for a little glimpse
Of an angel passing by?
How far away is Heaven?
How busy are they there?
Does my Mother know I’m looking up
And know how much I care?
Will she come back when You do Lord
When You fly down from the sky?
Will she look like she always did
With her smile and teary eyes?
She was not young, though pretty
And You took away her pain
I never wanted her to die
But she had much more to gain.
I want her to be proud of me
So one day, will she know
That You are now my Saviour
And I do love You so?

Use By Date.
We will never reach our ‘use by’ date
In the service of our Lord
But one day He will call us Home
To our last and great reward.
I don’t think when that day does come
I’ll say, “Not yet, not yet”!
For I am ready now dear Lord
Though family may fret.
Is this how prisoners feel the day
Its gates are opened wide
They now can have a brand new start
Though many run and hide.
I’m free to roam most anywhere
Since no-one needs me now
But where is ‘anywhere’, my Lord?
My hands still need a plough.
A purpose and a goal I need
But You must set the pace
I tend to rush round here, then there,
Till I tire of the race.
I know a goal that I could set
And You will help me Lord
I want to know You more and more
And love You as I ought.

The Lord Is The One Who Holds His Hand. Ps 37.24

The Lord is the One Who holds your hand
You could be the happiest in the land
Every tomorrow is a fresh new page
That God has granted you despite your age.
Praise Him as soon as you open your eyes
He never disappoints and He loves to surprise
Treasure His Words in the depths of your soul
They will heal and guide you and keep your spirit whole.
Wait on God, His timing will be right
Walk close to Him Don’t let Him out of sight
Delight in Him as He delights in you
Trust in the Father as He leads you through.

At A Loose End.
What shall I do today, Father?
Is there some need I can fill?
I begin to feel useless, dear Master
Shall I just sit quiet and still?
Will Your Holy Spirit whisper
What You think I should do?
The hours spent at home drag on longer
Since I haven’t some work I can do.
Everyone one that I know has been prayed for
And I’ve sent them my love from my heart
I cannot supply people’s needs Lord
Worldly wealth and I seemed to part.
So give me a task, loving Saviour
Time is all I can give
And that’s running short as well, Lord
Then my love is all I’m left with.

Tired Of The City.
I’m tired of the city I’d like to retire
To a shack in the back of beyond
Nothing too fancy as long as I have
A toilet that flushes along.
You say I'd be lonely? That would be, if only
I had no dog or a cat
A dog to guard me and a cat to keep me
From seeing a tramp or a rat.
A lamp would light my way round about
But I’d go to bed with the birds
Their chatter and clamour would make my head hammer
When dawn filtered in through the dirt.
The dirt on the windows is what I refer to
For in a shack in the back of beyond
No one would see that I couldn’t see
From my shack in the back of beyond.
What kind of future without a computer?
I haven’t yet made up my mind.
I’d talk to myself and work like a trooper
To prop up the shack that I find.
I don’t think you’ll miss me or rush in to kiss me
I’ll dress like a tramp. Do you mind?
No power or heating gives washing a beating
And I’m certainly not going to mind!!

Keep A Quiet Heart.
Keep a quiet heart
God’s ways are not our own
Yield now to him, He is within
Your life is now His throne.
Then keep a quiet heart
Your trials are His school
The lessons learned preparing you
For use as His own tool.
Within a quiet heart
God can direct your ways
Rest in this scene, whate’er He deems
Will glorify His name.
Don’t seek to change your path
However hard it is
A stitch or two, not broken thread
Completes the plan of His.

The Big Compelling Of God.
‘The work we do is of no account. It is so much scaffolding compared to the big compelling of God.’ Oswald Chambers.
Carry me off in Your compelling
I’m of no use unless You do
Seeing myself without Your indwelling
Is such a failure of use to You?
Carry me off until I hear You
Hearing Your breath against my heart
Waiting, and listening, learning to fear You
Your own compelling has set me apart.
Carry me off in Your compelling
Wherever, whatever You want me to do
Yours is the plan and when the Spirit’s indwelling
You, Lord, will mold me and carry me through.
I give up the struggle of, ‘shall I? or shan’t I’?
You’ve chosen me and You know what to do
I do not need to see where You are aiming
You have compelled me, I’m going with You.

A Love Letter To My Master.

I’ll love You till the end of time and then for ever more
I cannot tell You what it means to know Your love’s secure
You’ve always loved me, always known, that I would come to be
And I have never known such love. You mean the world to me.
My God, You wait up there in Heaven and pour such blessings down
My precious Saviour, Jesus Christ regained His heavenly crown
You sent Your Holy Spirit down to comfort and to guide
And I will never be alone for He is at my side.
While I am waiting on this earth for You to call me home
Please give me now some work to do, for I am still Your own
I want to show my faithfulness and my adoring love
There is such sorrow in this world, such love in Heaven above.
So take me, use me, guide me, Lord, I want to do Your will
My life poured from a vessel that You can work on still
I’ll be Your loyal servant, Lord, a daughter and a friend
If I follow Your commandments until my life shall end.

Your Majesty.

What will You look like when I see You
Coming right down from the sky?
I’d like it if You were a Shepherd
Holding the children nigh.
The Jesus pictured by artists
With long hair and soft brown eyes
Not white haired with eyes blazing
I’d be so scared I’d want to hide
You could come as a king with a crown, Lord
With robes of scarlet and gold
But don’t come as a fearsome avenger
What an awesome sight to behold !
Please come as a gentle Shepherd
Gathering up Your sheep
You see, I’m not old and not very bold
But I want to be Yours for keeps.

Try To Imagine.

I float like a half submerged leaf on the lake
Or a tiny weak twig that’s had all it can take
No bird swooping by, just to carry me away
Am I useful for something or anyone today?
If I were a leaf, somewhat soggy, but tough.
I’d give a bug safe passage if the water got rough
If a twig, then a beaver may find I have use
To build up his dam, and I would not refuse.
Whatever God makes He can find use for it
To fit a small plan or continue with it
Until it is part of the great scheme of things
I‘ve discovered even a leaf can have wings.
So if you are sitting down by the lake
Don’t despise the weak twig that’s had all it can take
Try to imagine as it floats out of sight
With the help of a leaf God could make it a kite.

Carers Update
It is only a month since my husband of almost 60 years passed away.
God was merciful to take him and He even honoured him by taking him on Holy Saturday. He suffered for years with Parkinson’s disease and Diabetes as well, for good measure, and was desperately ill, emaciated and in a lot of pain before the end.
Some weeks before his death Geoff joked that he hoped God would not call him on April Fool’s Day. God did better than that. He called him on a Holy day.
I am becoming used to a silent empty house and the phone ringing frequently as my family check on me regularly.
I go for long walks and look enviously upon the groups of ‘normal families’ where husband or grandad is still present.
Those of you in the Carers group know full well the longings of the carer and patient to live a ‘normal’ life. Let me remind you though, that the normal families will not experience the heights and depths of the love and care that is experienced between the sick person and their carer.
This sacrificial love was first shown by our Saviour Jesus Christ when He gave up His Heavenly Throne and died, tortured and beaten, on the cross at Calvary.
Jesus rose again triumphant and if our loved ones have given their hearts to the Lord, they will return triumphant in the skies when Jesus comes back for us who remain behind.
What a reunion!!!! The angels will hardly make their trumpets heard over the excited chatter of loved ones reunited again.
So dear ones, let’s walk close to the side of our loving Lord until that great and glorious day of the Lord dawns.

An Ex Carer
My Life Is Not Over.
My life is not over because my spouse was called home
I am now free to take other work on
Please gently lead me to a task that is new
Somewhere love is needed; something I can do.
I cherish the safety of a home that is mine
Fearful to step out after such a long time
But Your world is beautiful though I see it through tears
Many folk needing You, but not aware, through the years.
So until You put my hand to another new plough
Hear my prayers for salvation for my family just now
Every day without You is a day that is lost
Yet You died for them at Calvary at such a great cost.
I want to be sure that we’ll all meet in heaven
I know You want them, and Your love is freely given
You have heard all my prayers and bottled my tears
My future is in Your hands, I won’t count the years.

Lord I Am Surrounded
Lord I am surrounded by Your love
I am wrapt and held and shielded by it too
My pain and trials disappear within the circle of Your arms
From here my world is beautiful with You.
Lord I am strengthened by Your love
My fears are groundless and fast fading shadows
I can stand tall and face the future with a smile that comes from You
From now my world is wonderful with You.
Lord I’m made alive by Your love
The love that reaches out to all around
I can hold out my arms to comfort those that mourn
Just because my life is comforted by You.
Lord my life’s made new with Your love
My past held in Eternity by You
Every step I take with You, You will show me what to do
And all my life will be a monument to You.

The Little Sounds
I love to hear the little sounds
Like the creaking of the house
As if it’s saying ‘I’m holding up
And I’ll keep the bad things out.’
I love the wind, when as it blows
It whines among the wires
The trees will whisper through their leaves
Sometimes gossip, sometimes sighs.
When it rains and water softly drips
I wait for it to flow
And gurgle happily down the drains
As if it’s free to roam.
The birds will sing less loudly
When it begins to rain
They are too busy flying
Back to their home again.
Then there’s just a tiny chirp
As they shake water off their wings
And check out their little family
Fussing when the raindrops cling.
You need to be quite still and quiet
When little sounds draw near
As you’ll discover God’s own Peace
From everything you hear.

One Day I’ll Fly

One day I’ll fly right up to the sky
One day there’ll be no tears
One day I’ll hold my loved ones again
That day will hold no fears.
One day the sky will open to me
And heaven’s gates open wide
I’ll see my Father and Jesus my Saviour
That day I’ll step right inside.
I know you are hoping for that day too
Praying it will come soon
Jesus has said that He will return
We’ll hear the trumpets boom.
Angels and Archangels sounding the call
Christ, the Redeemer is come!
Friend please be ready, He’s coming like lightning
You’ve no time to dally, just run!

Space.

Space is a sort of negative word
It’s nothing or at least that’s what I have heard
There’s space in our house but not much I agree
There is space in the garden, except for that tree.
There has to be space if I walk anywhere
And lots of space lies just under my hair
There is space in the sky, and space on the ground
Space between homes, though not much, I’ve found.
Space between cars that are parked on our street
Space between some of my teeth, which is neat!
I don’t think the world could go on without space
I know I need lots when I’m running a race.
So space is important thought it’s nothing it seems
I’ll think more about it, perhaps in my dreams.
One day I may be a builder of respect
Being paid to put space between things I erect.

Hands off!!!
You pray that My will may be done
Then you come and interfere
I know you are just trying to help
But I’m in charge, my dear.
A soul I’m seeking may turn aside
If all their problems are solved
They’ll have no need to cry out to Me
If you see things are resolved
Your kindness is no problem
But solutions then are mine
To draw a stubborn soul to Me
And save their soul in time.
I hate to see them hurting too
But their eternal soul
Is more important than some pain
Till Salvation makes them whole.

I Can’t Write!
When there is nothing I can write
I know You can’t speak through me
And I wonder if I could have sinned
And there’s something wrong in me.
So please, dear Holy Spirit
Tell me all that I have done
For it hurts me when we’re not speaking
And I feel so alone.
I love the times You are speaking
And the words come tumbling out
About this, or that, or anything.
I want to sing or shout.
Because You, Lord, are using me
To send a message out
And I’m the one to hear it first
Before I can write it out.
I like to write about many things
It takes me out of here
Away from work and worry
Away from doubts and fears.
And for a while I’m in a world
So different from my own
Where I am calm and confident
And under Your control.
But just for now I will be quiet
And listen for Your Voice
Two friends can sit together
If silence is their choice.

The Land Of No Tomorrows.

There’s a land of no tomorrows far beyond the sky
I’m going to go there someday though Dad says ‘Don’t you try’
I don’t know how I’ll get there I haven’t worked it out
But I’ve thought so much about it one day I’ll work it out.
‘The land of no tomorrows’ I like the way it sounds
I hate it when I want something and ‘Tomorrow’ is tossed around
My other friends agree with me their oldies say that too
When they want to do something interesting, ‘Tomorrow. That will do.’
In the land of no tomorrows the daylight never ends
The sun shines every single day and I’ll never leave my friends
I rather fancy going there on Santa’s reindeer sled
I can sometimes just imagine that when I lay upon my bed.
Well, now, it’s just occurred to me; do you think I might get bored?
The things I want to do I really can’t afford.
I may run out of ideas. I may run short of friends
I’d miss my mother calling me, and calling to my friends
She makes such super cookies and serves them with cold drinks
Then tea time’s not so far away when we’re filled up with cold milk
Maybe the land of no tomorrows should just stay as my dream
In dreams you know you can’t go wrong, that’s what I‘ve often seen.
So I’ll see you in the morning, for tomorrow’s another day
And we can make our plans then, of the games we are going to play.
Did you smell those cookies? I hope they’re chocolate chip
I’m going, Mum is calling me, and it’s one meal I won’t skip.

It Is Christmas.

Yes, it is Christmas the special time of the year
Our Saviour was born in a world full of fear
What gifts should we give? A gift without price?
Just the gift of our heart is enough sacrifice.
Yes, it is Christmas, and we need not spend
A penny, a dollar, pile up debts without end
The birthday is Jesus’ and all that He seeks
Is a heart of submission and a soul that is meek.
So if we give gifts let them be for the poor,
The widows and orphans, the abused, there are more
For the rest of us let us just offer our love
In the name of our Saviour Who came down from above.
For it is Christmas and we behold Heaven’s joy!

Update Me.

Update me Lord. I often check my computer for such a thing.
Now I realise that my soul needs spiritual updating.
I plod along ‘same old, same old’ doing all I know I should
But I need a zap of Holy fire to do my soul some good.
Your power is there, always at hand, and I just need to ask.
I need Your Holy Fire Lord, for all my mundane tasks
I’d need it too, if there should be some great, exciting plan
That You will one day show to me. I’ll do anything I can.
And so, dear Lord, just look at me; You see I’m in such need
Of a flame of Holy Fire. Please send it now with speed.
A moment lost in indifference is a moment lost for good
And I am your dear servant, help me do all I should.
Update me Lord, not just today, but every day I live
I could set this world on fire; I have so much love to give.
My head is bowed, my hands are raised I’m ready to receive
Update me Lord, set me on fire; I believe Lord, yes, I believe.

I’m Done.
I’m done with self-pity and I’m going to sing
If You could hang upon the cross why am I complaining?
My road is no harder than the one You chose to take
I can wait till I reach heaven and then I’ll get a break.
So here’s to my servant hood and the trials that You send
You’ll ride the waves with me until my troubles end
There’s a light down the tunnel, I don’t care if it’s a train
For whatever You are sending I’ll have everything to gain.
So I’m singing of Your love for me and of my love for You
You only have been faithful. You’re the only One that’s true
You said You’ll never leave me and I believe that it is so
And You said You’ll be beside me wherever I may go.
So let’s go, Lord, I’m ready, and waiting Your next move
Together we will journey home, we’ve nothing left to prove
Heaven’s glory lies ahead, our Father’s waiting there
Be seated on Your Heavenly Throne and I will worship there.

How Do You Feel?
How do You feel, Lord, when Your birthday comes round
And You look at the mess we are in?
It’s two thousand years since You died on the cross
When You came to save us from sin.
Do You weep, Lord, when You look at what man has done
Oh, yes, I know there are some
Who were martyred, and others who lived by Your Book
But what did most of us become?
Don’t despair, Lord, we are praying for Your kingdom to come
For love to fill everyone’s heart
For all folk to put You first in their lives
With the knowledge that we’ll never part.
So now on Your birthday, my present to You
Is my life, and my love, and my heart
Together with prayer that just one more soul
Will give You their lives at the start.
While they’re still young and sin has not spread
To ruin another young life
Before sin has eaten into their brain
And they cannot tell wrong from the right.
We all know of young ones we cherish for God
Whether family or friends, it’s the same
We’ll keep lifting their names that Your Spirit will work
Till they yield up their lives in Your name.

Have I Denied You? (Luke 22. v61-62)
Have I denied You, my Lord and Master?
Have I denied You, dearest Saviour, Friend?
Yes! Every time I put someone else before You
Was Your claim on me denied, or at an end?
You turn to look at me with each denial
Your love for me is forever and without end
Has my love for You grown cold or lost in fear
Though once I claimed You as my Saviour, Friend?
Don’t look at me, Lord, when I deny You
I want to run away and weep my bitter tears
Your love shines through eyes now dark with sorrow
That I, Your child, should turn from love so dear.
Oh Lord, forgive as You have done before this
My denials of You are forever at an end
You will be first ,and foremost of all my loyalties
I’ll worship You as Saviour, Lord, and Friend.
I’ll be there when people would deny You
I’ll be there, beside Your cross of pain
I’ll stand with You, when cruel ones deride You
I’ll be there when You come from Heaven again.
I am Your child, You are my loving Father
And now Your pain I want my pain to be
I’ll never deny the One Who died to save me
The Son of God Whom I nailed to a tree.
You are my heart, my life, my Lord and Master
I am now bound to You my Lord, in love too
When You are pained, that pain will strike at my heart
As I try to understand what You went through.
You walked to the cross even as I denied You
You walked to the cross while others wept in grief
You walked on and on, just because You loved us
And You knew Your life was not Yours to keep.
You sacrificed it to show how much You loved us
You surrendered it to pay for all our sin
You conquered death and sin with resurrection
Your Spirit now has filled my heart within.
I’ll walk with You; I’ll stand with You; You are my God.

Addictions?
Are you chained by addictions, wracked by despair?
Grace only can free you. Jesus is there.
He has the power to set your life free
He bought your Salvation on Calvary’s tree.
All that it takes is “Lord, please save me!”
He takes your hands and you are now free.
Free from the chains of hell that gripped you
Free to climb out of the pit holding you.
I’m not saying it’s easy but it is a fact
That Jesus will help you each time that you act
To follow His Word and call on His Spirit
In faith you will grow when your will is in it.
You are made in God’s image, He planned for your birth
And for your future, for He knows what you’re worth.
He knew you were worth dying for; He is giving you hope
So tie up those demons, you have enough rope.

What Is It Like In Heaven?

What is it like in Heaven?
Is it a busy, busy place?
Do You give instructions to angels
Then they set Your plans in place?
What work is performed by redeemed ones ?
Do they leave their mansion each morn
If there is no sunrise to tell them
Another new day is born?
No hospitals, prisons or clinics
The house won’t get dusty again
No windows to clean, (that is great news)
No spiders coming in from the rain. (I hope).
Will babies be babies for ever?
I have so many questions to ask
And I won’t know the answer for ages
For I’m not ready for Heavenly tasks.
I’ve decided there’s too much to do here
And I’m working more slowly each day
I need time for pondering and praying
If I’m to keep the enemy away.
So Lord please stay closely beside me
Or send an angel or two
I’m inclined to become quite flustered
With so many things to do.
But with peace in my heart from You, Lord
And my eyes fixed firmly on You
Whatever ever task You set me
I’ll do anything for You..

Family.
I am a stranger here.
I never fitted in
More comfortable with little ones
And reaching their souls within.
Can I a stranger be
When I have family?
So many loved ones, young and old;
A growing family tree.
I’m passing through this world
A matriarch of sorts
To set an example of a God-filled life
And my family to exhort.
My rich inheritance
Of family I dearly love
My prayer is just that they should all
Yield their lives to God above.
So I’m not a stranger now
But a pilgrim passing through
Leaving growing numbers of offspring
That I yield up to You.
Please bless my family, Lord
And take them for Your own
And I will still be praying for them
When I stand before Your throne.

Good Morning God

Good morning, God! No school today!
I’m quite excited now,
But are the angels grumpy?
The sky is dark with clouds.
I hope that things aren’t going wrong
Up there in heaven for You
I know that You’re not grumpy
That’s not a God thing to do.
But if the sky is angry, dark
There must be a good reason
It was so blue just yesterday
Is it just a change of season?
Well that is what my Mom says
When things start going weird
And she should know for when she’s mad
She’s someone to be feared.
It takes a lot to make her cross
It’s generally some disaster.
Like food on fire that stirs her ire
And has her running faster.
If I mess up she’s not like that
But calls me round the corner
So my sister doesn’t notice it
And eavesdrop till Mom warns her.
Well now I’ve told You everything
I hope Your day improves
Can You send a little patch of blue
While I learn some skateboard moves?

Oh Lord, Come To Me.
Oh, Lord, come to me
Holy Spirit, help me see
All the gifts that You gave me
Are blessings straight from Heaven.
Every day please touch my head
You know what will lie ahead
Just give me my Daily Bread
My blessing straight from Heaven.
My future rests within Your hands
Here at home, or in foreign lands
Your gifts always wrapped in loving bands
More blessings, straight from Heaven.
Oh, my Lord, come down to me
Holy Spirit help me see
That my life is of use to Thee
And blesses someone bound for Heaven.

Lean On Me.
Psalm 139:9 & 10 "If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand shall hold me."
Lean On Me.
I have given you a brand new day
Can’t you face it?
Lean on Me.
Do you feel forgotten sometimes?
Do you feel alone?
Lean on Me.
Have your cares piled up on you?
You can’t see a way through?
Lean on Me.
Have you lost hope in your future?
Are dark mists now blinding you?
Trust in Me.
Do you want to make a difference
In someone else’s life today?
Follow Me.
Will you help someone like you?
Help Me show them what to do?
Walk with Me.
I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the Lord, who calls you by name, am the God of Israel." Isaiah 45:2,3...

Make Me Beautiful
Make something beautiful of me Lord
Use a little of the sun
Because the sun is bright and warm
And it’s where folk like to come.
Then perhaps a little sky
Transparent, clear and true
So when others turn to look at me
They see right through to You.
The glow of the moon to shine through the gloom
Dispelling darkness for those burdened too
Please attach a few stars to show where You are
So my journey will lead Me to You
Make my mind just like Yours Holy and pure
Purposed to do Your will
I’d like rock in my feet so I don’t slip as I seek
The next step on this journey uphill.
Then colour me faithful, loving and true
A child of my Father above
Who will faithfully tell, ‘live for God, do His will
And He’ll colour you, too, with His love.’

Tired Of School?

I’m absolutely, definitely, tired of school today
I want to hear my teacher say a holiday’s on its way
I made a mess of lessons because I hadn’t been prepared.
I didn’t do my homework in case I seemed a ‘nerd’.
It’s not that I want to appear stupid all my life
Though that is what will happen if I’m a slacker and a pike
I want to be much smarter than that fellow on TV
I’m full of useless information if you ask me.
So now I have decided I will study very hard
And do all my homework, though I’ll still play in the yard.
One day you’ll see my name on a board upon a door
And you’ll know you’ve found someone who really knows it all.

Your Second Coming.

I lie in my bed and gaze up at the sky
I imagine I see Your dear Face.
I’m laying here waiting for Your second coming
How long do I have to wait?
You said to be ready, and so I am here
And watching for You from the skies
But I’m getting sleepy because I am tired
And I might just close my eyes.
So wake me dear Father if You should return
While I am fast asleep
Because in my heart I am ready and waiting
As Your commandments I’m trying to keep.
You are stroking my face with a soft little breeze
The clouds pass the moon, drifting by
When the sun wakes us up on this side of the world
The other half waves it goodbye.
So I lie on my bed and gaze up at You, Lord
I am ready, so come, get me now
I’m laying here waiting for Your second coming
I’m determined to see You, somehow.

Speak To Me.
Speak to me Lord, I want to speak about You
Sing to me Lord, as we walk through the land
Lead me Lord, so that I can follow
Guide me Lord, I want to hold Your hand.
Give me hope to look forward to my future
Extend to me Your Joy to fill my heart anew
Offer me Your mercy when I disappoint You
And Your power to stop disappointing You.
I want to show my gratitude for all You do for me
Accept my adoration for all Your earthly pain
I want to return to You the love You showered on me
So, Holy Spirit pour on me Your cleansing rain.

My Gyroscope.

Lord, You are my Gyroscope
You help me stay afloat
Through stormy seas.
You would have me rejoice
And raise up my voice
To You in praise.
The waves now are so high
I know that You are nigh
Let me see You Lord.
You are saying ‘Peace be still’
This surely is Your will
I will rest in You.
I accept all at Your hand
It is just what You had planned
So I yield to You.

Now We’re Alone.
Now we’re alone we can share secrets
Now we’re alone confide in me
You are my Lord, I’m here to worship
Please touch my soul, Lord please bless me.
Now we’re alone I lay my burdens
Down at Your feet and then I am free
Free to obey without restrictions
You took my burdens and gave peace to me
Alone with You, then I can ponder
All of the things that came to be
So many blessings Lord I wonder
Why You should be so good to me.
All silence now we are in union
My sins confessed, Your mercy heals
Your touch again has come to strengthen
When we are alone Your love is revealed.
Never alone without Your presence
Always at home when You are near to me
Safe in Your arms I joy in the future
Never alone for You are with me.

What A God !
Do I forget when I get a problem
That my Father has dealt with many of them
Do the birds fly in a tizz because they forgot what day it is?
Or the best fat worms decided to hide?
Whatever the matter, don’t let your brains scatter
Just whisper a message to God
His angels are in line to fly to you in time
To reveal a solution from God.
You don’t need great elocution to pray for a solution
Just whisper, “Please help me, dear Lord.”
He hears what you are thinking and while you are still speaking
His rescue plan will be on the board.
It doesn’t take a commotion for God to set in motion
The way to help you cope with the mess you’re in
This battle may be with Satan who has already taken
Far more of your life than he should be in.
So tell Satan where to go and the God who loves you so
Will work things out and carry you through
Send the SOS and wait, God will never hesitate
The answers flying from Heaven just for you.
CALL ON GOD
WAIT ON GOD
WHAT A GOD!

Walking Through Life
Will you walk with me, beloved, through the springtime of our life
While our love is young and everything is green?
Will you hold my hand and vow with me that there will be no strife
While we look around at this glorious scene?.
Will you walk with me, beloved, through the summer of our life
When new hopes and plans for prosperity lie ahead
Our quiver full, as parents proud, of children fit and free
While we teach them where to look for Daily Bread.
Will you walk with me, beloved, through the autumn of our life
Now the children all have flown out from the nest
Our hopes and plans are all forgotten, and we are slowing down
Will you walk beside me even then?
Will you walk with me, beloved, through the winter of our life
When walking may be difficult at best
Just take my hand and we will walk down memory’s lane instead
And watch our grandchildren play as we just rest.
If you should go to Glory first please look on me sometimes
I’ll be the one that’s walking home alone you see
But don’t be sad for me because I’ll be coming to Glory soon
And I’ll be the young and pretty wife I used to be.

Mother of the Groom.
Where did the days go? I lost my boy today.
Some woman came and took him right away.
She told me that she loved him, but then so did I
And I wanted the boy I knew to stay.
He was a cute and chubby baby, who loved to play
A ready laugh, and he liked to make me smile.
At school he’d once run home with his face all flushed with grief
Some little bug had died inside his sleeve.
He found it in a puddle and felt he’d rescued it
He had hidden it where his teacher couldn’t tell.
Now Mick is all grown up and he loves a sweet young girl
God chose them for each other, I’m sure of it.
They will walk in sweet communion
For God has blessed their union
And my son is now a man as all can tell.
But to me he’s still my baby
Whom I loved and prayed for daily
And I am still his Mom, so really, all is well.

It’s The Beginning.
It’s the beginning of the start of this journey
I’ve finished with the last part of my life
This is the beginning of the beginning of my new life
And the end of all my sin and guilt and strife.
Jesus has washed me in His blood and really cleansed me
This is the beginning of my new life with Him
I’m so glad to have my guilt and sin disposed of.
I’m so glad to start a new life with Him.
Jesus and I are one and it’s now I realize
I have the best Friend there ever could be
I’m at the beginning of the start of my new life
It’s the end of the old destructive one I see.
Jesus and I will walk through this life together
I’ve been saved by the Son and I’m happy to be free
So Satan can crawl back into his dark old corner
I’m wise to him and his crafty tricks, you see.
Jesus and I can now walk on up to glory
I’ll never leave the One Who rescued me
He’s my very best Friend and there’s no other
Who can do what He has done for me.
Thank You Jesus You are the very best friend to me.

Walk With Me, Lord.
Walk with me Lord, the way is dark just lately
Walk with me Lord, my eyes are growing dim
Stretch out Your hand so I can know you’re near me
Then walk with me till heavens’ safety I win.
Talk with me, Lord, till I understand whys and wherefores
Talk with me, Lord, it’s lonely down here
Tell me You love me, ten more times may do it
Speak to my heart and keep me from all fear.
Look at me, Lord, and see how much I need You
Open my eyes so I can see Your heart
My eyes are dim and sore with all earth’s gravel
Clear Thou my vision till I see Your heart.

The Hands Of God.
The hands that spread the stars in space
Then gave them each a name
That placed the moon upon its path
And set the sun ablaze.
These are the hands that held a child
The hands that took the nails
That created the earth’s beauty
And strange creatures that amaze.
The clouds that seem spun with gossamer
The flowers of myriad hue
Are testimonies to the mind of God
And the hands that made us too.
Your hands have steadied old and young
The frail and insecure
Lifted up the broken soul,
Found food to give the poor
They counted out our every hair,
They measured up our days
Your hands are beautiful dear Lord
With the scars from cruel nails.

Were You Ever Lonely Lord?
Were You ever lonely Lord in spite of all those crowds
Is that why You would climb the hills that were sometimes topped with clouds?
So many people wanting You and expecting to receive
While the disciples You were training to help the ones in need
But You would miss Your Father and His loving encouragement
It was hard to be alone at times, I know just how that felt
The disparaging remarks of those gloomy Sadducees,
And the self righteousness of the Pharisees
You must have wondered if it was worth the supreme sacrifice
Even before You had to die and pay the ultimate price.
But You were faithful to Your cause, faithful unto death
Hanging silent on that cross until Your final breath
Then after Your resurrection when You finally went home
Your Father’s arms enfolded You as You sat upon Your throne.
Just because You suffered and knew loss and loneliness
You see those who are lonely are held close to Your breast.
Oh Lord may we remember that it is our task to see
The lonely, lost, and needy are important to Thee
So we’ll care for others as if we cared for You
Until one day when You return and there’s no more we can do.

The Peace of God.
Oh the joy of rest when a battle has been won
To rest within the arms of God when He whispers, ‘Child, well done’
When all the pain and struggle fades into half forgotten thought
And our God shows He is pleased at a brave battle fought.
There a peace in You, dear Saviour, You place in human hearts
Not devised or manufactured through any kind of art
It’s transmitted through the Spirit and comes down from above
A gift from God alone, and it is wrapped inside His love.
God’s peace is like a velvet glove that caresses our mind
Or like a soft and gentle breeze that our spirit entwines
We start to feel it when we kneel beside the Mercy Seat
Or when we contemplate Salvation, that makes our lives complete.
We need to carry that peace always deep within our heart
It will shield us from harm when another battle starts
It is the strand of silk that clings firmly around our heart
And binds us to the Saviour so we can never part.

There’s A River
.jpg)
There’s a river that’s flowing, a river of love
It comes from the heart of the Father above
Although we may feel that we’re all alone
This river will carry us up to the throne
A throne of all mercy with judgment and truth
The blood of our Saviour has been shed for you
Surrender your heart and your troubles and pain
And feel the arms of the Lord put around you again.
There’s a place of still water God wants you to know
He’ll walk there beside you as closer you grow
There’ll be pastures of green and a table that’s laid
With provisions to strengthen, nourish and aid.
There’s nothing but joy and hope up ahead
Your Lord will feed you with His living Bread
Your trials and struggles are part of His plans
He holds you for ever in His gentle hands.

Silence.
Is today a day of silence
No special uplift from God’s Word?
Do you feel that God is missing
Perhaps with someone who more deserves?
This is when the Lord is nearest
Standing with you, friend with friend
You know He said He’d never leave you
He’s close by now right to the end.
This is when your faith is tested
Standing on the brink of what?
Perhaps God thinks it’s time you rested
No worry then, ‘Shall I?’’ Shall I not?’
Just enjoy the cool still waters
And the quiet of pastures green
His plans for you are continually forming
Even though they are not seen.

Thank You, Lord
Thank You for a new day, thank You for Your love
Thank You for sending Jesus from His glorious home above
Thank You for Salvation and the cleansing precious Blood
Thank You Lord, for finding me when I was hiding from Your love.
Words are never good enough to tell of Your majesty
Your beauty and Your mercy, Your forgiveness, full and free
No spoken word or language could express how I feel
Though angel hosts in heaven can Your glory reveal.
But one day when You call me home my gratitude I’ll tell
In the language of heaven ,as I’ll learn to know it well.
But while I’m here down on the earth my heart will have to do
I know the Holy Spirit will pass it on to You.
He speaks to You with groanings that I cannot pen with words
Telling how I love You, Lord, in this, Your other world.
For all creation worships the Creator of all things
From creatures underneath the sea to those You made with wings.
The stones cry out in worship, nothing could silence them
So why do we stay silent? Is Your death forgotten then?
I call on all who claim to be the children of the King
Fall on your knees and worship our glorious King of Kings.

I'm Dancing.
Lord I am dancing down the highway of Your kingdom
You came to rescue me and now there’s music in my heart
So now I am dancing to the music You are sending
You set my feet dancing when You stepped into my heart.
Lord, I knew I needed You, so I found where You were passing
I’m too small to see, so I climbed up in a tree
That tree was a Sycamore but I was really sicko’me
Yet You saw me Lord and said You’d visit me.
Chorus
Now, Lord, I’m dancing down the highway of Your kingdom
You came to rescue me and now there’s music in my heart
And so I am dancing to the music You are sending
You set my feet dancing when You stepped into my heart.
Once I was lost and I needed You to find me
I never heard the music You were singing to me
But now I can dance to the music You are singing
As You guide me through the pathways to Your heart.

My Winter Of Content.

The nights draw in and the days are cold. I huddle by the fire.
Somehow I have time to ponder and browse through old, feverish times.
I sit and am drawn towards the fire with its hot golden flames
Like the fire from God’s alter. I hope it burns my dross again.
The fire dies and the cold moves in. Now God just sits with me
Sometimes completely silent, sometimes setting thoughts free.
I move towards the worship of a God so great, so kind
His loving words taking shape in the corners of my mind.
I don’t feel this way in summer. It’s not a pondering time for me
But in the dark, cold, wintry days, there’s more time for God you see.
When I huddle over the fire, there are no thoughts of chores or plans
No daydreaming as in summer days, of work to fill my hands.
Just warmth and dark and cold around and I can sit and hide
While God and I can visit. He is so close right by my side
I am content with pondering and the worship of my Lord
And all the while my spirit heals and is drawn closer by His love.

Keep Your Eye On Me Father.
Keep Your eye on me Father
You promised You’d always be near
I’m afraid I may slip right out of Your sight
My trouble seems always so near.
So keep Your eye on me Father
24/7 and more
I want You to watch me closely
In case I leave You at the door.
I don’t want to be a rebel
I’ve spent most of my life like that
Now You’ve won my heart, I’m Your servant
No more wandering from You, that’s a fact.
You watched for me when I left You
Why did you care so much for me?
You knew I’d be lost without You
Now I’ve returned, but yet I am free.
I am free to leave You dear Saviour
But I love You too much to go
So keep Your eye on me Father
My eyes are on You , yes, You know.

You Are my Righteousness.
O Holy Father, You are my righteousness
What a huge task You have
My humanity presents You with crumbling walls
When a tower of strength You would love.
In Christ alone am I righteous
I plead the precious blood
His sacrifice is needed to show me
As righteous to You Lord above.
Your power within me, Your Spirit I crave
My spirit starves to death without You
Cleanse me, fill me, build me up
Your love alone keeps me true.
I want to serve You precious Lord
And walk with You faithfully
Your goodness and mercy is never withdrawn
So thank You for loving me.
